I am writing this section in Hotel Hami, located in a rural area of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I am in the same room that I stayed in approximately nine years ago, when I was seventeen with three of my friends. Back then, we were on ‘Project Week’, a program designed by our high school as part of our IB diploma course, in which all students had to go abroad and serve the community. What made Project Week particularly special was that students went abroad on their own, with no adult supervision. And yet I am back here as an adult myself, truly grown up, with my husband!
