Hope Sharing Association: Youth Leader & 학교명 Hope Nest Leader (6 hrs/wk, 20 wks/yr) 10^th, 11^th, 12^th

Hope Sharing Association, with approximately 1,800 active members from youths to adults, is a civic group that protects the human rights of North Korean defectors and promotes their adaptation to the society. The association, in coalition with Konrad Adenauer Foundation, is an affiliate of North Korean Refugees Foundation with chapters in Chungshim International Academy, Ehwa Girls’ Foreign Language High School, Minjok Leadership Academy, Hankuk Academy of Foreign Studies, Daewon Foreign Language High School, etc. The purpose of the association is to train mentor volunteers for North Korean defectors, provide educational programs necessary for the latter’s adaption to the society, promote awareness of the latter’s presence within communities, and develop global leaders in reunification efforts.

- Cultural Mentoring for North Korean Youths:

Position: Program Leader and Manager

Purpose: To help defected North Korean youths adapt to the Korean society through cultural experiences; to

help them understand the history and heritage of Korea and its development into modernity; to establish a

consensus of opinion through understanding the cultures of North and South

Activities: Decided on a theme each month and accordingly planned the location to visit and the cultural

experience to be undertaken; visited landmarks and historical sites; made North and South Korean foods

together; watched a musical about North Korean defector’s rights in South Korea; visited each others’ homes and

shared family histories
