다음은 공통원서(Common Application) 자소서(Personal Essay) 1번 주제(meaningful story)와 프린스턴대학(Princeton U)의 고유 주제 중에 하나인 “person (of) influence”에 관한 에세이들(각각 650 단어로 작성)로 모든 전공 계열에 적합합니다. 하지만 서문을 고려한다면 이공(Science & Engineering) 계열에 지원하는 학생에게 어울릴법하네요. 보통 죽음을 다루는 내용들은 암울할 수밖에 없다는 선견적 편견이 지배적이어서 가급적 피해야 하는 내용 중에 하나로 분류되지만, 초점을 어디에 두냐에 따라서 오히려 감동을 주는 에세이가 되기에 부족함이 없습니다.

...그러나 대상이 특히 가족이나 친구 또는 가까운 지인일 경우 분명 그 학생의 삶에 있어서 크나큰 영향을 준 사건일수밖에 없으므로 그만한 소재 또한 없는 것이 사실이다. 다만 대부분 견해의 우려와 마찬가지로 죽음을 다루는 내용들은 자칫하면 시작부터 끝까지 암울하고 부정적인 내용으로 전개될 수 있는 여지가 크므로 세심한 주의기 필요한 것 또한 사실이다...
