As a tenth-year math teacher in °íµîÇб³¸í Foreign Language High School, I also taught math and calculus for the ±¹Á¦°ú¸í Program in 2003. I met Áö¿øÀÚÀ̸§, however, in her second year as her "Regular Math" teacher. ("Regular Math" refers to Math I and Math II of the conventional mathematics curriculum for high schools in Korea with topics ranging from algebra to calculus to trigonometry.)

Unlike her classmates in the ±¹Á¦°ú¸í Program, Áö¿øÀÚÀ̸§ initially impressed me with her incessant appetite for knowledge even outside of class. She demonstrated more confidence in math than any of her classmates due partly to her experience in °íµîÇб³¸í High School where she participated in its math team and competitions as an exchange student. In class, she demonstrated consistent progress in solving various problems by applying her knowledge in math to approach the problems from several different perspectives. During group studies, she was more than willing to express her opinions in different methods of approaches to a single mathematical problem. She has an uncanny ability to concentrate and has the voluntary leadership to set an example for her classmates...
